Edo was the name of Japan's capital in the days of the shoguns and dictatorships, a city now known as Tokyo. In the 19th century, Edo was the world's largest city. Today, the sprawling megapolis of this "Capital of the East" is an infinite juxtaposition of districts, where characteristics of a futuristic city exist in stark contrast with quiet neighborhood villages located close by.
