Why the Supreme Court has 9 Justices

Currently, the United States Supreme Court holds seats for nine justices. But with the passing of Former Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, there is one empty seat to be filled. While members of Congress argue over when to appoint a new justice leading up to the November elections, others are proposing a revival to a different idea: "packing" the Supreme Court.
