America's Nuclear Reactors Are Worryingly Old

Nuclear energy supplies about 20% of electricity in the U.S., but the fleet of reactors is getting old. The oldest has been operating since 1969, the average age of all 94 reactors is 39 years, and four of them recently received license renewals allowing them to operate for up to 80 years. Those renewals reignited a debate about aging reactors: is keeping them operating that long really safe?
